Sahara's Desert King or "Desi" was born on Father's Day, June 16, 2002 and is out of our ² Arab buckskin mare CR Sahara Gold. Desi is a solid, leggy, big boned very upright colt. His dam is 14.3 hands and his sire is 17.2 hand Friesian stallion Celtic. He has a long line of ster, preferent, and model mares in his Friesian pedigree. He has been inspected by the American Warmblood Society (AWS) and is eligible for branding as "Red Preferred". He is registered with AWS and is eligible for registry with the Friesian Sport Horse Registry (FSHR) and International Friesian Cross Association (IFCA). He and his brother received the overall highest scores for disposition, temperament and trainability at their AWS inspection as a weanling and his brother as a yearling.

Desi is a solid bay and it appears that he is shedding out to have his mothers fine Spring coat that hardly needs grooming and always looks like it was clipped. Desi also has a very full mane and tail. His movement is very animated and upright. He is trained to show in-hand on the triangle in sport horse classes, lead, load, clip, tie, stand for the farrier and he has been caught free jumping up to three feet. He is a sport horse persons dream and we think that he will excel in the typical sport horse events such as dressage and eventing.
